Head of Devops
Job Summary
Key Responsibilities Leadership & Strategy Define and execute the organization’s DevOps, SRE, and infrastructure strategy. Build, lead, and mentor multi-disciplinary teams (DevOps, SRE, Cloud, Platform Engineering). Drive a culture of automation, security, reliability, and continuous improvement. Work closely with engineering leaders, product, and security teams to align technology with business goals. Infrastructure & Cloud Own cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure) including architecture, cost optimization, governance, and compliance. Lead design and scaling of distributed microservices, containerized workloads, and Kubernetes clusters. Oversee capacity planning, resilience engineering, and multi-region HA/DR strategy. Implement Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Pulumi/CloudFormation). CI/CD, Automation & Tooling Build and maintain enterprise-grade CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab, Jenkins, ArgoCD, Spinnaker). Automate provisioning, deployments, and rollback strategies. Drive adoption of GitOps, policy-as-code, and zero-downtime deployment approaches. Establish golden standards for release management and environment lifecycle. Observability & Reliability Implement end-to-end observability platforms (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, OpenTelemetry). Lead incident management, RCA processes, SLO/SLI definitions, and reliability best practices. Reduce MTTR and improve system availability with proactive monitoring. Security, Governance & Compliance Own DevSecOps integration—shift-left security, vulnerability scanning, secrets management. Ensure compliance frameworks (SOC2, ISO27001, GDPR, PCI-DSS if applicable). Define access control, IAM, network segmentation, and secure cloud architecture. Cost, Performance & Efficiency Build cloud cost reporting, forecasting, and optimization frameworks. Optimize infrastructure performance and reduce operational overhead through automation. Implement self-service platforms for developers to improve productivity.
